French, goblet and box-pleated hand-pleated headings are all stiffened using heading buckram.
Sanforised heading buckram is softer than the single- and double-sided fusible buckram which have a resin glue finish.
Use the sanforised heading buckram where you require a soft pleated heading. Use the single-sided fusible heading buckram on lined only curtains placing the glued side towards the lining. Use the double-sided fusible heading buckram on interlined curtains, placing the buckram between the interlining and lining.
Our heading buckram is available in depths of 10cm (4in), 12.5cm (5in) and 15cm (6in).
We recommend using 10cm (4in) for heading sill length curtains, 12.5cm (5in) for curtain drops up to 250cm (98in) and 15cm (6in) for longer curtain drops.
Instructions for buckram pleated headings can be found in Merrick & Day' s books - The Encyclopaedia of Curtains and Blinds, Curtains & Cushions
